What are the dates, times, and location?
The event dates are December 8, 9, and 10th 2016. For those that have purchased tickets, please arrive at Church of the Dunes (717 Sheldon, Grand Haven) 15 minutes prior to your ticket time. This will allow time for parking and grouping prior to the start of your trail journey.
Do children need a ticket?
Yes, this is due to the fact that all travelers will be placed on buses for transport to the trail. The number of tickets sold corresponds to the number of seats on the bus as well as the number of people we can comfortably accommodate on the trail at one time. Infants that will be carried do not need a ticket. However, please do not bring car carriers, strollers, or large backpacks as we can not accommodate them on the buses or trail.
Where do I park?
Parking will be at Church of the Dunes (717 Sheldon, Grand Haven). Please do not arrive at the trail location. There will be no parking there. Once you are put into your trail group at the church, you will be bused to the trail. If you live in Grand Haven and want to walk to the event, please arrive at Church of the Dunes to start the Journey.
How do I get tickets?
Tickets are sold prior to the event dates, and will not be available at the door. See the Tickets tab for more information.
What if part of my group arrives late?
If you arrive late, we will do our best to accommodate you individually or as a group. However, we cannot quarantee your travel as we need to keep the lines moving smoothly. In fairness to everyone, you may be asked to step aside until we can add you into the line, if possible.
What should I wear?
We encourage you to dress comfortably and warmly. Wear sensible shoes (no high heels), as you will be walking on a wooded trail for about 45 minutes.
Is there food or drink at the event?
After you have visited and exited the trail, you will be offered free hot chocolate, coffee, and cookies in the hospitality room.
Should I bring the kids?
The whole family from kids to grandparents are invited to explore the Journey. However, children must be able to walk the entire 45 minute trail, as no strollers, car seat carriers, or large child back carriers are permitted. Please keep your children with you at all times because there are many people along the trail including Roman soldiers on horses. Once on the trail, there is no easy exit and no restroom. Please plan accordingly.
Is The Journey handicap accessible?
Unfortunately, the trail is rough, wooded, hilly, and impossible for a wheelchair or walker to navigate. Plan to walk for about 45 minutes outside.
Are there restrooms along the trail?
Restrooms are available at Church of the Dunes before you start The Journey and in the reception area at the conclusion of the trail. There are no restroom facilities along the trail. Plan for a 40-45 minute walk without restroom facilities.
What kind of security does The Journey have?
Security is provided during all performances throughout The Journey. Guides and others along the trail will have immediate access to security personnel.
What is not allowed at The Journey?
The Journey to Bethlehem is a family safe environment. There is no smoking, no weapons of any kind, no alcohol or drugs, and no pets allowed. Additionally, cell phones must be turned off, and no flash photography to keep with authenticity of The Journey. Due to the wooded nature of the trail and limited room on buses, strollers, walkers, and large child carriers are not permitted.
